I was accepted to participate in the Read Local Book Festival in Provo celebrating local Utah authors, partnered with Utah Humanities. It takes place during Utah Humanities Book Festival month. I had a table there and sold and signed my book, The Secret of Surviving In The Sea. There were more than 100 authors at the event! It took place Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025 at the Provo City Library Ballroom.
Ogden’s First Friday Art Stroll
The First Friday Art Stroll is a monthly event showcasing local art, artists and creative businesses. On Friday, December 5th, I sold and signed my books at the The Queen Bee Giftery on 25th Street. You can find my book for sale there, as well as chocolates, gifts, toys and gifts for all ages.
Utah Author’s Day
This was an event organized by the League of Utah Writers. It is held annually at several locations across the state, allowing local authors to meet readers. I participated in the event at the Weber County Library Pleasant Valley Branch, on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025.
I took part in a panel discussion along with Utah authors Rachael Bush and Natalie Shaw Evjen. It was exciting to me to see people that I know show up for this discussion!
Book Signing at Dolly's Bookstore
I had a really fun book signing at Dolly's Bookstore in Park City on Aug. 23, 2025. It’s an awesome store, kind of quaint and personal. Sitting at my table I enjoyed engaging with anyone who looked my way. I was there for two and a half hours talking with complete strangers and I sold seven books.
Thirty-nine years ago I was president of the League of Utah Writers, 1986, the year of Halley’s Comet. This past weekend (Aug. 8-10, 2025) I attended my first League’s Writers Conference in probably that many years. Back then we called it the Roundup. Now it’s called Quills.
I had so much fun! I made some friends, I attended classes taught by agents, editors, and successful writers. I took pages of notes of new things that I learned.
I had the opportunity to have a “live pitch" (tune in next time and I’ll explain what that means) with an agent/editor from Denver, which turned out to be successful. That was the first big excitement, other than the excitement of just being there. The other was when my name was announced as the Gold Quill winner (first place) in the published novel category of the annual contest, for my book, The Secret of Surviving In The Sea.
It was a fantastic weekend. I am enjoying the writer’s life!
Fun at the bookfair!
I had so much fun at the Book Fair, July 26, 2025, at the Monarch in Ogden. My assistant (my daughter) decorated my table and took money and bagged books as people bought them. My other assistant, (my son) printed up reviews people had so kindly written. I engaged with people who wanted to know about me, and about my book, and signed the purchased copies. It was a wonderful way to spend my Saturday.
My dear friend and hairdresser, Angie Hammond, held a book signing and reading for me in her shop, Salon Bleu, in South Ogden, on Monday, July 14, 2025. I was nervous and trepidatious and antsy leading up to it, but it turned out to be one of the most fun things I have ever done. It was so gratifying as old friends and new friends gathered to hear me read excerpts from my book, The Secret of Surviving In The Sea.
We had a lively Q&A session where I got to talk more about the development of my book and my writing process. There were prizes and light refreshments, and I sold and signed several books. Many thanks to Angie and everyone there for your support!
I plan to have more of these events in the near future, and I hope more friends and future-friends are able to participate. Join my email list below if you want to be notified when I have another event like that!
